RP example*: I appeared in a flash of blinding light. I look at the mortals before me, "Hello, there." I said with a sly smile. I raise an eyebrow and notice none of them were taking notice of me. "I said 'Hello'" I boomed. The mortals looked at me and smirked, they obviously didn't know who they were disrespecting. I summoned a boar and ordered it to kill anyone it saw, "Take that, foolish mortals!" I bellowed. The boar killed a few humans before I stopped it, "That teaches you not to disrespect me." I said smirking. I looked around, everyone was cowering in fear, "I shall now take my leave." I said and disappeared.
Personal history*: Son of Zeus and Hera, in Greek mythology, the shiny-armored, spear-carrying, 4-horse war chariot-riding Ares was god of slaughter, warfare, and warriors. Because Ares killed men, he was hated by the Greeks. As a result there are few Greek cults of Ares, with temples mainly on Crete and the Peloponnese. However, Ares was also known as a god of courage, the savior of cities and father of victory. Athena was also a goddess of war, but she was not associated with the wanton violence that followed in Ares' wake, and therefore was respected.
